Verdant Valley Eye Opener
The Verdant Valley and Dorcas Women’s Institute met at the home of Percy Poland on Wednesday, April 10 with 6 members present. Discussion centered around the District 5 Conference that will be held at the Verdant Valley Community Center on April 26 and 27. District 5 extends from Sunday on the West to the Saskatchewan border. The agenda for the conference on Saturday was discussed. On Friday, April 26 the member’s entries in handicraft, baking, photography and plants will be judged. Anyone is welcome to attend the conference on Saturday and take part in an interesting program. Donations were made to MS, the Drumheller Library and the hospice at the Red Deer Hospital for quilts.
Ron and I enjoyed five days in Edmonton where our daughter Karen and 8 of our grandchildren live. We stayed in a suite at a hotel and visited with everyone. We got to see our great grandson, Parker Leonhardt, (nearly 7 years old) play hockey.
Belated happy birthday to Nonnie Donais on April 11, Natalie Panisiak on April 13. Happy birthday this next two weeks to Tim Dekeyser on April 17, Kassidy Powell and Brent Grieve on April 21, Dale Wilson on April 22, Marg Ewing and Blaine Leonhardt on April 27, Sandra Shadlock on April 29 and Fred Ewing on April 30. I don’t know if everyone knows that Fred is in the Continuing Care in the Hanna Health Care Center.
