Greet­ings & Sa­lu­ta­tions! Here’s what’s new this week in the Stan­dard Com­mu­nity… The Shock Trauma Air Res­cue So­ci­ety (STARS) hon­oured the Vil­lage of Stan­dard’s Com­mu­nity Chest for their con­tin­ued com­mit­ment to be­ing, “Part­ners in Sav­ing Lives”. Glenda Farn­den, of the STARS As­so­ci­a­tion, pre­sented a photo plaque to coun­cil on Wed­nes­day, April 3, thank­ing the com­mu­nity for their stead­fast com­mit­ment to the STARS ini­tia­tive. Mayor Joe Pedersen ac­cepted on be­half of the Vil­lage. Many thanks to our lo­cal vol­un­teer Fire Depart­ment and EMS teams who work hand in hand with STARS, keep­ing our com­mu­nity safe. When­ever you see a bright red STARS heli­copter fly over­head or even land in the com­mu­nity, you can be as­sured a team of highly trained emer­gency care experts are giv­ing hope to some­one who is crit­i­cally ill or in­jured.

Live Free Art & Pho­tog­ra­phy Stu­dios presents spring and sum­mer classes com­ing soon. Lo­cal Artist Chelsey Tel­lier has opened a stu­dio in the Vil­lage and will be of­fer­ing art classes for kids and adults in all medi­ums, pot­tery classes, she will also be of­fer­ing book­ings for pri­vate func­tions, pho­tog­ra­phy ser­vices and will have an on-site gallery with orig­i­nal works of art for pur­chase. Have you reg­is­tered your kinder­gartener for school yet? A re­minder… “Not Your Stan­dard Mar­ket” A Mother’s Day Mar­ket will be held on Satur­day, April 27, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., at the Stan­dard Com­mu­nity Hall. There will be a kid’s cor­ral, food truck, hand­made goods, art, and fur­ni­ture. A re­minder…The Stan­dard Lionettes are spon­sor­ing the Babysit­ter’s Train­ing Pro­gram Cer­ti­fi­ca­tion for youths be­tween the ages of 11 & 14, of­fered by WFES. What Ev­ery Babysit­ter Should Know! Learn the role of the babysit­ter, child de­vel­op­ment, car­ing, pos­i­tive be­hav­iour man­age­ment, home and out­door safety and injury preven­tion, fire safety and first aid tips for chil­dren. Each stu­dent will re­ceive a Babysit­ter’s Hand­book and a wal­let card upon suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion. You must pro­vide a doll or bear the size of a baby, pen and pa­per. The Lionettes will also pro­vide a lun­cheon for the day. The course will be held on Satur­day, May 4 at the Stan­dard Se­niors Cen­tre. Please con­tact Dar­lene at 403 934 5785 to regis­ter.
