Hand Hills Grapevine
Hello Hand Hills…I am writing this after a beautiful rain last night. We got just over an inch but the band of rain was small. This came with a strong wind that saw clouds of dust blowing to the south of us. Down there they got ¼ inch. All in all still hoping for more but this is a good day in the Hills.
Speaking about good days, the Chad and Lacey Cosgrave family have a lot coming in the years ahead. They have a new addition to their family. Kenneth Ari Cosgrave was born at the end of May. Congratulations to Chad and Lacey and big brother Roan on this new arrival. Grandma Tara and Great-Grandma Bernice are sure to cuddle this little one whenever they get the chance. For those of you that remember Chad as a baby, know this newest Cosgrave looks just like him!
And they did it again. The Raymond Sieppert family took part in the Kidney Walk in Medicine Hat again this year. Ray, even after just having heart surgery four months ago, did the walk as well. What a great cause!
They have been burning up the ball diamonds! Rod Moench and Owen Francis have been coaching the U19 girls team and they have had good results with a great group of girls. They have won gold and silver at tournaments they have played in. Congratulations!
Tatum Vredegoor and her U14 baseball team based out of Drumheller have had good luck in the baseball tournaments they have entered. They have won gold and silver and placed fifth. That Windmill Pitch is quite something to watch. These young girls can really pitch and throw a ball with great force. Many will remember Ryan Radke and his windmill pitch in the baseball he played in the Hills. Good memories!
Sorry to hear Brooke Galster was injured while playing ball in Stettler a couple of weeks ago. Brooke plays with a lot of intensity and will be missed on the teams she plays on. Speedy recovery young lady!
And she so deserved it. Kim Larsen was awarded the Good Gal Award at the Stampede this year. She changed the way the gate is run and she is so efficient and dedicated. Thanks Kim and congratulations on being chosen by the Morris Beck Family.
I have no updates on the Stampede but I know it was a well run show and was enjoyed by many. Hey Cam Veno family, how many campers this year?
The fourth Annual Hand Hills Slo-Pitch Tournament was held last weekend with ten teams entered. A team from Drumheller won over local favourite Brandon Cuddie's Team. Win or lose, Cuddie and his Crew organized a great time for all. Again Brent and Debbie Olmstead rocked the dance. Day and Bill, Lena and Ciana fed the crew at the Booth. The diamonds look amazing! Hand Hills is never still!
And yes we are still humbled. We were nominated for the Black Angus Breeder of the Year Award and received this honour at the Angus Convention in Drumheller last weekend. Having our family help through the years made this award possible. Love what you do and you never have to work a day in your life rings true here.
Till next time...enjoy the rain, and just sit back and watch the grass grow!
