I hope every­one en­joyed the Rock­y­ford Lions 62nd Rodeo this past week­end. Spe­cial thanks are ex­tended to the many com­mu­nity vol­un­teers who made this an­nual event a suc­cess.

The Rock­y­ford Lions Club is once again of­fer­ing a one thou­sand dol­lar schol­ar­ship to a 2019 high school grad­u­ate (who re­sides in Rock­y­ford) who will be at­tend­ing a post secondary school this Fall. Ap­pli­ca­tions are avail­able by call­ing Randy Melcher.

Minecraft at the Rock­y­ford Li­brary event is on Wed­nes­day, July 31, 3:30-5:00 p.m. Come learn and play the pop­u­lar com­puter game for free but space is limited so call ahead to book your spot (403) 533-3964.

The Al­berta Foun­da­tion for the Arts Trav­el­ling Ex­hi­bi­tion (TREX) Be­yond the Patch: Sto­ries from Wood Buf­falo has ar­rived at the Rock­y­ford Li­brary. See the re­gion from the point of view of its lo­cal artists’ draw­ings, paint­ings, and pho­to­graphs. A truly Cana­dian ex­pe­ri­ence and it’s free of charge!

The 4th Teen Sum­mer Read­ing chal­lenge is on! Be­tween July 22 and Au­gust 2 sub­mit a short story about an ad­ven­ture you have had or that you would like to have. A win­ner will be cho­sen to re­ceive a book-themed tote bag or read­ing gloves of their choice and ex­tra points! Two run­ners-up will also re­ceive ex­tra points. The Rock­y­ford Li­brary paint nights and fam­ily paint nights are on hold un­til Septem­ber.
