Rotary Club continues busy agenda in August

The Big Ball Bounce, a senior’s Barbecue, planning for the popular Radio Auction, start of Grey Cup ticket sales. These are just some of the current Rotary activities and their fundraising efforts to support youth, families and seniors in the community and area.

On Saturday, August 10, someone will walk away with $5,000 when 2,000 lacrosse balls roll down the street in front of Riverside Value Drug Mart. The balls will be rolling at 2 o’clock. The ball closest to the target will mean its owner wins the cash. A limited number of tickets are available. Call 403-823-4944 or contact a club member.

Following this fund-raiser, club members pick up the tools and cook for the Continuing Care barbecue on August 27. This event was started a year ago and members hope they’ll be able to help out for years to come.

This month the club is commencing plans for the radio auction. Thanks to participation by businesses and individuals, items are auctioned on-air. And, later this month, members expect to have Grey Cup tickets back. For just $2, you receive a score for the championship game November 24.

In 2024 Rotary will celebrate 100 years of service to Drumheller and area. The club is embarking on a major project to mark the occasion, and in the meantime, will continue its support of projects that benefit youth, families and seniors.
