Dunford acclaimed as Carbon Councillor
The Village of Carbon has a new councillor as Deborah Anne Dunford has been acclaimed.
This comes after Deputy Mayor Kelly Garrett announced her resignation on June 17 of this year. She was elected in the 2017 municipal election.
Dunford is retired and has lived in Carbon for about four years. In that time, she has become involved in the community. That is one of the reasons she put her name in to be a councillor.
“I wanted to get more involved in the community and see how it works,” she said.
Since she has been in Carbon she has been active on Citizens on Patrol.
“I am pretty open to things and I like to get involved in the community, I am a volunteer,” she said. “I think I can bring a fresh look at things.”
“I have never done anything like this but I have been on committees, but nothing political, so this is new to me.”
Her first meeting was a special meeting on August 8 to discuss a land matter. Her acclamation was announced on social media on July 24.
