The farmers are busy silaging, swathing, combining or baling or just getting ready for harvest, so there’s not much news. Families are also busy getting the children ready for school or off to university or college so there’s not too much news.
Kim and Jolene Fraser and Kim’s mom Lois McCulloch camped at Little Bow for a few days last week.
Don and Kay Fraser attended a little Mashford get-together in Red Deer on Friday, August 23 with 11 cousins in attendance. After they went to visit Verna Barker an old family friend, who lived in Hussar in the 1950’s. She is now in a senior’s home in Red Deer and will be 96 in October. Her daughter Velma was with her so they had a great visit.
Sis and Kay Fraser attended a shower in Strathmore for Amanda Black, granddaughter of Mary Ellen and Armand Corbiell on Saturday, August 24.
Several from Hussar attended an engagement party for Jason Hobson and Dani Clyne from Rockyford, on Saturday, August 24, in Strathmore. They are planning a 2020 wedding.
Remember there will be another Makepeace Market at Joni and Jim Hobson’s on Saturday, September 14 at 9 a.m.
On Sunday, August 18, Riley Griffith attended the Canadian World Series Team Roping in Claresholm, AB. Riley and his partner, Larren Blake from Hanna, won the #8 category with a 40.39 time on four steers. Coming home with $8220.00, a buckle and a motorized bicycle!
Grady Severtson and Jack Oxtoby have once again joined the Strathmore Community Football Association. Grady plays on the Peewee Badgers team, while Jack moved up to the Bantam age group. Practices started August 12 and both are looking forward to their first games. Grady will start his season at home against the Red Deer Steelers on August 31 at 11 a.m. at the field behind Crowther Memorial Junior High School in Strathmore.
Strathmore hosted ringette 3 on 3 for the past couple weeks to get back into the swing of things. The Hussar girls who took part are Jordan Holm, Mary Sandum, Kylie Bishop, Kate Sandum, Rori Holm, Katie Taubert, Jayna Hale, Marli Sandum and Grace Gregory.
