Two charged af­ter drugs, guns seized from car down­town Drumheller

A man and a woman are fac­ing drug and firearm charges af­ter po­lice seized a ve­hi­cle in down­town Drumheller.

On Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 11, Drumheller RCMP were in­ves­ti­gat­ing a com­plaint from a con­cerned ci­ti­zen about a sus­pi­cious ve­hi­cle. Later the same day, a pa­trol of­fi­cer lo­cated the ve­hi­cle parked in Down­town Drumheller.

While in­ves­ti­gat­ing the ve­hi­cle, a green 2004 Audi sta­tion wagon, it was de­ter­mined the plate on the ve­hi­cle was not a match and had been stolen. A fe­male pas­sen­ger of the ve­hi­cle was de­tained ex­it­ing a nearby business and soon af­ter po­lice en­tered the business to look for a se­cond sus­pect, the male driver. The sus­pect at­tempted to flee on foot from the po­lice but was ap­pre­hended.

When ar­rested the male was in pos­ses­sion of sub­stan­tial amounts of cash and a loaded hand­gun found to have been stolen.

On Oc­to­ber 12 Drumheller RCMP ex­e­cuted a search war­rant on the green 2004 Audi sta­tion wagon. In that search, mul­ti­ple items were seized in­clud­ing an­other stolen li­cense plate, Metham­phetamine, and sus­pected GHB liq­uid. Po­lice also seized an ad­di­tional 3 re­volvers and 1 pis­tol, which were lo­cated with am­mu­ni­tion con­sis­tent with all the cal­ibers. One of the firearms was re­ported stolen from Saskatchew­an.

Tyson McDon­ald-Sherba (24) of Trochu is charged with two counts of pos­ses­sion of prop­erty ob­tained by crime, pos­ses­sion of prop­erty ob­tained by crime over $5000, two counts of pos­ses­sion of stolen firearms and five counts of pos­ses­sion of re­stricted weapon to­gether with am­mu­ni­tion, pos­ses­sion of a con­cealed weapon, pos­ses­sion of a weapon for a dan­ger­ous pur­pose, two counts of pos­ses­sion of a con­trolled sub­stance for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing and five counts of fail­ing to com­ply with con­di­tions of a re­cog­ni­zance. He is ad­di­tion­ally fac­ing one charge un­der the pro­vin­cial Traf­fic Safety Act for op­er­at­ing a ve­hi­cle while unau­tho­rized. He has been re­manded into cus­tody and will be ap­pear­ing via CCTV in Strath­more court Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 15, 2019.

April Mar­garet Cou­turier (32) of Drumheller is charged with two counts of pos­ses­sion of prop­erty ob­tained by crime, four counts of pos­ses­sion of re­stricted weapons to­gether with am­mu­ni­tion, pos­ses­sion of stolen firearm, two counts of pos­ses­sion of con­trolled sub­stance for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing and two counts of fail­ing to com­ply with con­di­tions of a re­cog­ni­zance.

She has been re­leased on her own re­cog­ni­zance to ap­pear in Drumheller court on Oc­to­ber 25, 2019.

Drumheller RCMP would like to thank the pub­lic for con­tin­u­ing to re­port sus­pi­cious be­hav­iour. The in­ves­ti­ga­tion is on­go­ing and po­lice are re­quest­ing any­one with in­for­ma­tion about the pic­tured 2004 green Audi sta­tion wagon to re­port any sus­pi­cious con­firmed sight­ings from the past week in the city of Cal­gary or sur­round­ing ar­eas to Drumheller RCMP Cpl Per­gu­nas or Cal­gary Po­lice Ser­vice Det. Straub.
