Allow retail cannabis stores in city

The Expositor (Brantford) - - OPINION -

Re: Cannabis: opt in or out? (Dec. 6) I was surprised to read that there is actually a question being discussed as to whether Brantford should opt in or out of allowing bricks-and-mortar stores to sell cannabis products in our fair city.

Canadians already have given a clear answer about the merits (or evils if you still subscribe to the marijuana-madness paradigm) of legal marijuana.

Any efforts to slow down that snowball are either politicians pandering to the right wing or stubbornly refusing to accept what Canadians (that does still include Brantford residents, as I recall) have decided.

We need to eliminate the ridiculous monopoly that the Ontario Conservatives have set up and allow stores to open.

I and many others will be watching closely to see which of our city councillors choose to drag their heels.

If Brantford opts out, the money will simply go to other municipalities. Even the staunchest right-winger should understand that.
