There could be some fireworks at city council soon.

Well, at least a debate about fireworks.

Ward 3 Coun. Dan McCreary introduced a notion of motion this week at a committee meeting about the use of fireworks in the city,

The notice of motion reads: “Whereas fireworks displays can be both enjoyable and problematic and thus create conflict, now, therefore, be it resolved that municipal staff prepare a report reviewing current legislation and making recommendations regarding the use of fireworks in the City of Brantford.”

A notice of motion gives advance notice that a councillor wants to raise an issue for discussion.

No discussion took place on the issue this week but it is expected to come before councillors for consideration at a future meeting.
