Labour market survey started
A survey that gathers up-to-date information on the local labour market is underway.
The sixth annual EmployerOne survey covering Brantford, Six Nations, the Mississaugas of Credit Nation, as well as the counties of Brant, Haldimand Norfolk, continues until Jan. 31.
It can be found online at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/ r/2019WPBGEweb .
“The survey provides first-hand, reliable information on the health of the local labour market that we can’t get anywhere else,” said Jill Halyk, executive director, of the Workforce Planning Board of Grand Erie.
“Hundreds of local employers know that EmployerOne is a great opportunity to talk about the issues they are facing, knowing the information is shared community-wide, including with political leaders.”
The survey gathers information on the needs of local employers and identifies trends on a range of human resources-related issues including hiring plans, skills shortages, as well as difficulties in hiring and retaining staff.
Issues identified in previous surveys have led to actions including the creation of training programs to provide more welders and warehouse/logistics workers to meet the needs of businesses, Halyk said.
She noted that the survey averages between 300 and 400 responses a year and the names of employers are kept confidential.
