Henrique, Dalpe set records; Hendershot­t player of year; London Marathon finisher

Henrique breaks drought, sets record

Adam Henrique set a new NHL record on Monday night.

Henrique, a Burford native, scored the second goal of the game for the Edmonton Oilers in their 7-4 win against the Los Angeles Kings in the opener of a best-ofseven playoff series.

The goal set a record for longest span (4,333 days) between NHL playoff goals. Henrique's last playoff goal before Monday was when he scored for the New Jersey Devils in Game 4 of the 2012 Stanley Cup final, which was also against the Kings.

Henrique's only playoff appearance since 2012 was in 2017-18 when his Anaheim Ducks were swept in four games by the San Jose Sharks in Round 1.

The previous record for longest span between NHL playoff goals was 4,079 days, which was set by Craig Ludwig.

Henrique was acquired by Edmonton from Anaheim earlier this season. In 14 NHL seasons, the 34-year-old has played in 912 games, scoring 263 goals and adding 267 assists for 530 points.

The Oilers host Game 2 in their series against Los Angeles on Wednesday at 10 p.m. Dalpe sets record with Checkers Paris native Zac Dalpe recently became the all-time leader in games played for the American Hockey League's Charlotte Checkers.

Dalpe has now played in 353 games, which breaks the old record of 347 set by Trevor Carrick.

Dalpe also owns the franchise record for goals scored with 130. His 235 points ranks him third overall.

Dalpe, 34, has played in 565 AHL games with various teams over his 15-year career. He's also played in 168 games over 12 seasons in the NHL scoring 16 goals and 16 assists. Hendershot­t player of the year Hailey Hendershot­t of Paris has been named the NCAA Midwestern Conference (MEC) women's golfer of the year.

The Brantford Collegiate Institute graduate has won three conference events this season. The second-year player at Glenville State College had an average score of 75.4 in MEC events this season.

She was also named the the AllMEC first-team.

Hendershot­t will compete at the NCAA Division II regionals in May.

RUNNING WITH RICK

David Newman of the Running with Rick club recently finished the TCS London Marathon in three hours, 15 minutes, eight seconds.

His time placed him 6,333rd overall out of more than 54,000 participan­ts. He also qualifies for the 2025 Boston Marathon.

The London Marathon is one of the Abbott World Major Marathons.
