Not just a number
There was a time when the Alexandria Camping Centre, located at 3875 County Road 34, sold both recreational vehicles (RVs) and cars. Not anymore. For more than five years, the company has been dealing exclusively with the RV market and it has made all the difference in the world. “Selling RVs is a fun business,” says operations manager Dominique Tan. “You’re selling people their vacations and holidays. It’s fun dealing with people like that. They’re buying something that’s going to give them pleasure rather than a car that they may need.” The camping centre, located on about five acres at Alexandria’s south end, has a two-acre satellite operation in Lancaster. It’s not uncommon to see people visiting it from as far away as Montréal or Ottawa. Mr. Tan says that’s because the centre prides itself on providing excellent customer service.
“They come here because they know they won’t be treated like a number,” he says.
“We offer fair competitive prices. We’re rural so we don’t have the overhead prices like the big guys.” As far as selection goes, five acres can house a lot of RVs.
Mr. Tan’s brother, business manager Pascal, describes the selection as “vast.” If you have simpler tastes, you can get a tent trailer, which Mr. Tan describes as “one step up from a tent.”
“It gets you off the ground and gets you away from the dew and the sore back,” he says.
From there you can go all the way up to the more sophisticated destination models that offer everything from air conditioning, appliances, bathrooms with sewer systems and generators.
The camping centre has a number of clearance models and pre-owned RVs.
It also offers affordable leasing options to help any RV enthusiasts find the perfect model to fit their budget.
