The Vankleek Hill Farmers’ Market has grown into a year-round attraction.

Vendors offer their wares Saturdays year-round, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute, situated at 5814 Highway 34.

The market features naturally grown fruit and vegetables, naturally raised meat (including chicken, pork, goat, lamb and wild game meat – red deer and wild boar), wood oven baked bread, homestyle baking, local honey, homemade ice cream, preserves, herbs and spices, prepared foods (Belgian, Jamaican, Thai and Armenian), garden plants, artisans and much more.

New to the market, The Harvest Garden is serving gourmet breakfast and lunch including French toast, homemade soups, quiche and salads. decades, says that he’s always smiling when he wakes up on Christmas morning. That’s not just because he gets to spend the day with his family, it’s also because he knows that thousands of people are celebrating the day by eating baked goods that were made fresh in his Military Road location.

Over the years, the Sweet Tooth has garnered a reputation for its amazing butter tarts. Mr. Fowler says they’ve been everywhere from the Maritimes to California. “We just put some on a plane for Saskatoon,” he says.

But now, with Christmas approaching, he’s looking forward to some more festive fare like Christmas cookies, mince tarts and that staple of FrenchCanadian cuisine, tourtière.

ICONS: Does your mouth water when you behold the iconic butter tart?
