Books and people. The two go together like tea and biscuits or like chocolate and bananas.

As part of Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Libraries program, branches throughout the region are hosting a “Human Library” program. Details can be seen at

The Alexandria Library is hosting its event Saturday, February 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The compelling “human books” include ER physician and author Melissa Yuan-Innis, Christopher McGillis, who once worked at Disneyland, and Linda Sauvé, actor and author of “Chocolate & Banana - - The Sexiest of Classics.”

Visitors will have a chance to enjoy a 20minute conversation with the “human books.” The event comes just before Freedom to Read Week February 22 to 28. During that week, people are encouraged to visit the library and learn more about what books were actually banned at one time. Visitors should also take the time to spend a few minutes filling out a ballot for a chance to win a fun prize.
