$300,000 sur­plus

Staff South Glen­garry Town­ship is look­ing at a size­able sur­plus from 2014, ac­cord­ing to its trea­surer.

“I’ve been say­ing that we’re go­ing to have a sur­plus of around $300,000, but this is a mov­ing tar­get,” Mike Sam­son told the last coun­cil meet­ing.

A re­cent trans­fer of $169,000 from a cap­i­tal fire re­serve – added to a pre­vi­ous sur­plus of $ 86,000 – con­trib­uted to an in­crease in the town­ship’s 2014 net rev­enues of $265,000. The town­ship’s to­tal bud­geted ex­pen­di­tures for 2014 was $25.3 mil­lion.
