ATVers’ deal sealed
BY SCOTT CARMICHAEL
Staff An agreement between South Glengarry township and the Glendaler’s Winter Sports Club regarding clearing and usage of an unopened road allowance in the Summerstown area was finalized at the February 9 council meeting.
Council had approved the group’s request to clear brush and trees along an unopened road allowance running east from Paragon Road to SDG 27 to facilitate usage along an existing trail at the previous meeting on January 26, pending an agreement between the Glendaler’s and the township. That pact has several conditions, among them: that the clearing of brush and trees is limited to the foliage that needs to be cleared to establish the 15-foot-wide trial; that no trees exceeding eight inches in diameter can be felled; a survey for the sections of the unopened road allowance that the Glendaler’s will be clearing must be completed by a recognized Ontario Land Surveyor firm; and that all work and related costs (such as those pertaining to the survey, legal services and work performed) will be paid for by the Glendaler’s.
