Youth faces sexual assault charges
A 16-year-old Cornwall male has been charged with a number of sexual offences following an investigation into a series of incidents that allegedly took place at a residence on SDG Road 2 in South Glengarry between June 2013 and January 2015.
The youth, who according to police, was “repeatedly engaged in sexual-related incidents involving another male and female youths,” was charged with three counts of invitation to sexual touching, two counts each of sexual assault, sexual interference making sexually-explicit material and indecent exposure and uttering threats, and one count of distribution of child pornography.
He was later released and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court February 12.
Traffic stop leads to drug charges
The Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment charged three Québec residents with drug-related offences after intercepting a vehicle being driven erractically on Highway 401 in South Glengarry at about 5:30 a.m. January 25.
The driver, Lincoln Russell, 36, of Lachine, allegedly tried to assault an officer.
He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, impaired driving, having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime and resisting a peace officer.
His two passengers, Quincy Corby, 23, and Shaquina Atkinson, 23, both of Montréal, were charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime.
Possession and speeding charges
Nicholas Carrière, 25, of South Glengarry, was charged with marijuana possession and speeding after being pulled over on the 401 in South Glengarry on the morning of January 27.
He was released and is scheduled to appear in
Alexandria court March 4.
North Glengarry man charged with assault
A 42-year-old North Glengarry man was charged with two counts of spousal assault, one stemming from a 2012 incident, following a domestic dispute with his common-law wife at their Skye Road residence February 1.
The suspect, who cannot be named in order to protect the identity of his victim, was released and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court March 3.
