The jobless rate in eastern Ontario continues to drop below the national average, according to Statistics Canada. The jobless rate was 6.9 per cent February 6, compared to 7.6 per cent January 9. The national jobless rate is 7.2 per cent. A year ago, the unemployment rate for this district was 8 per cent. The numbers are for a region that encompasses Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry, Prescott, Russell, Frontenac, Lanark, Leeds and Grenville and Renfrew.
