Guilty plea in cyclist’s death
A South Glengarry man who has pleaded guilty to careless driving in connection with the cycling death of a Glen Roy-area cyclist two years ago is scheduled to be sentenced April 5.
Denis Piette, 43, was charged on Feb. 14, 2015 following a fivemonth investigation into the incident.
Mr. Piette was westbound on SDG 25 around 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 25, 2014 when he struck Francisco Teruel, 62, who was also travelling westbound, on his bicycle.
Mr. Teruel suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
