Gaels boys succumb to Saints
Glengarry District’s junior boys basketball team reached the SD& G championship match last Friday in Alexandria, only to run up against the powerful St. Lawrence team, which had won handily when the schools met during the regular season.
The Gaels entered the final riding an eightgame winning streak, and they played the Saints tough, staying close throughout, before falling 47-39.
One of the GD coaches, Bruce MacCallum, noted the Saints have big players who effec- tively box out. However, St. Lawrence coach Josh Greely noted how much the Gaels had improved from their earlier meeting.
As a team, GD had five-three pointers in the game. Dove Rickerd led with 13 points.
In the semifinals, the Gaels prevailed 63-39 over Seaway, while the Saints powered past Rothwell-Osnabruck 50-26. –
