$300 for top history essay
The Glengarry Historical Society (GHS) is offering a $300 scholarship to the local high school student who composes the best county-related history essay.
“In the past, what we’d traditionally done was give a prize to one of the five high schools in the area each year, to give to a student there,” said GHS president Robin Flockton. “But this year, we wanted to try something different.” The essay competition is open to all secondary school students residing in Glengarry County. Entries, between 1,000 and 2,000 words, can be on any topic associated with the history of the county, since 1792, and must be submitted by April 23, 2016.
Essays can be emailed to Mr. Flockton via flock[email protected], or by mail to: Glengarry Historical Society, Box 416, Alexandria, Ont., K0C 1A0.
