Four people have been arrested for allegedly vandalizing a shrine at l’Église de Sainte-Marie-del’Assomption in Green Valley, reports the Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment.

Travis Birt, 20, of Alexandria and Drake Antoine, 18, of North Glengarry, a 17-year-old female from South Glengarry and a 16- year- old North Glengarry male are charged with mischief under $5,000.

All four are scheduled to appear in Alexandria court August 10.

Police responded to a report of damage caused to the religious shrine at the rear of the church June 4, discovering that benches, flower planters, plumbing and a door to a makeshift tomb had been targeted.

The recent incident was the second to take place at the church in less than a year. Last August, miscreants smashed a cross, statue and glass candle holders there.
