Legault soccer tournament
As we reported in last week’s edition of The
the eighth annual edition of the Marc Legault Memorial Soccer Tournament was held June 11 at Alexandria’s Island Park.
Organizer Don McDougald says they had terrific involvement once again, despite a damp start to the day. He was especially pleased to see some new participants out for this year’s event.
The tourney raised in the neighbourhood of $5,000.
The foundation supports a number of initiatives throughout the year. Among the recent beneficiaries have been St. John Ambulance and a local resident who is battling Lyme disease.
As for the soccer results from the day, the ‘A’ champs were Lebronus Jamemus, while the Atlantic Jr. Barflies took ‘B’ honours.

Two lacrosse games left
Just two regular-season lacrosse games remain on the schedule for the Cornwall junior ‘C’ Celtics, who feature the county’s own Tyler Akins as leading point-getter.
On June 30, the boys will be at home, at Cornwall’s multi-sport complex, for an 8 p.m. tilt against Gloucester, before closing out the campaign on the road July 2 in Whitby.
Provincial golf this weekend
The Glengarry Golf and Country Club in Alexandria will host a provincial qualifying tournament on Saturday, June 25.
The event is for amateur golfers, but is cosponsored by the Professional Golfers Association of Canada.
