Surprise party

A surprise birthday party was held for Gilles Claude, husband of Betty, of North Lancaster, who turned 80 years old June 12. The party was held at their daughter Carole’s place near Summerstown. All their six children were there. Roger and Tara, Susanne, Michel and Claudia, Carole and Tim, Richard, Joanne and Miles, his brother, Jean-Pierre, and Claire, his sister, other family members and many of their close friends attended. Betty and her children know how to put together a great party; a delicious supper was served along with music provided by Bob Bériault. Everyone had a great time and we wish Gilles many more years of great health.

65th anniversary

Happy 65 years of marriage going out to Arcade and Ghislaine Menard who celebrated this happy occasion June 9. The wishes come from your chil- dren and their families.

On another note we send out “Get well” wishes to Arcade Menard who is a patient in Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital.

Cemetery gathering

Just a reminder that June 25, a gathering will take place at the cemetery in Green Valley between 1 p. m. and 2 p. m. where a plaque will be laid in memory of the trustees who fought hard 100 years ago to have a French school in Green Valley. Many dignitaries will be there. And it’s free, so come on down. This is a once-in-a-life- time event for this community. Everyone is welcome.

Deepest sympathies going out to the family of Georgette Bourgon who passed away June 13 at the age of 72. She leaves her spouse, Georges Emile Nadeau, and her daughter Josée (Paul Taylor) and her siblings Rhéal Bruyère (Lucille), Viviane Charbonneau, Nicole Tessier (Gilles), and other family members. Her funeral was held June 18 at Église Sacré Coeur in Alexandria.

God bless and enjoy this beautiful warm weather.
