The Glengarry Golf and Country Club in Alexandria hosted the Division ‘ H’ men’s intersectionals on July 10, when the local team placed second.
The winning side represented the Eagle Creek Golf Club, from Dunrobin, west of Ottawa. The group recorded 55 points in the match play format where golfers are essentially playing three games (one versus a player on each of the other teams) at one time. A win was worth two points, so potentially each player could score a maximum of six points for his squad.
Glengarry’s crew notched 30 points for second place.
The team included Alastair MacDonald, John Miller, Moe Bellefeuille, Robb Starkauskas, Jean Marc Titley, Denis Barsalo, Brennen Filion, Nick Quenneville, Marc Fajertag, Ben Lowe, and Jean Theoret.
Rounding out the standings were the groups from Hammond (20 points) and Mont Cascades (15 points).
The event was organized by GGCC club captain Jean Marc Titley.

Alexandria teen golfer Ben Lowe competed at the junior provincials tournament, at the Cowansville Golf Course.
His opening round, on July 12, saw him shoot an 89. He cut that by eight strokes on the second day, with an 81, for a total of 170, but missed the cut, which was set at 161, and did not advance.
Nonetheless, the 16-year-old says the experience was a terrific one.
As reported in last week’s edi- tion of The News, Lowe went on to claim the championship of the Glengarry Open.
On the docket of upcoming competitions at Alexandria’s golf course are the Alexandria Open (Aug. 6), club junior tournament (Aug. 13), and the club championships (Aug. 20-21).
