Here are the re­sults of the Aug. 18 euchre party: Robert Pa­que­tte, Pauline Belle­feuille, Mar­cel Belle­feuille, Cé­cile Lav­i­gne, Gil­bert Sabourin, Estelle Brazeau, Jean- Lu­cien Larocque, Hélène Cam­peau. The door prize went to Gil­bert Sabourin, Margo MacRae.

The 50/5-5-5 draw went to Jean- Guy Ouimet, Cé­cile Lav­i­gne, Berthe Larocque, Lor­raine Lan­thier, Gil­bert Sabourin, Iso­bel MacLen­nan, Marie- Laure Nose­wor­thy, Lu­cille Massie.

Our next card party is Aug. 25; hosts are Robert Pa­que­tte and Claude Robin­son.

Concert at the Grotto

An­other suc­cess­ful show was held last week with per­for­mances by Bruno Lau­zon and Steven War­bur­ton. This week’s concert, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight ( Au­gust 24) fea­tures Lee MacK­in­non and Katie Ditschun ( Kate Smith), Teacher’s High­land Cream (1950s and ‘ 60s tunes.) It will be an awe­some show. Don’t miss it! At the fi­nal concert, Coun­try Night, Au­gust 31, there will be a pre-show per­for­mance by Bob Béri­ault at 6:30 p.m. An­dré Cadieux and Area Code 613, a coun­try and rock band, per­form from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Palace news

On Tues­day, Aug. 9 we vis­ited the St- Al­bert Cheese Fac­tory and had lunch there. We vis­ited the up­stairs to see how the cheese and curds were made. On our way home we stopped at the Avon­more Berry Farm. We would like to thank Adrian for driv­ing us.

On Wednes­day we went to the concert, on Thurs­day we played Flower Pot game and in the evening we lis­tened to Cedar Val­ley Choir. We would like to thank you all for the nice evening.

On Fri­day we played euchre at the Outreach Care­for. For those who did not come, they played sand­bags and the win­ners were Iris K., Rose M. and Jean­nine B.

At The Palace Mrs. D. Clarke was cho­sen to go to the beauty gala at Shop­pers Drug Mart for free make-up, where there was also a bar­be­cue and a bake sale.

On Sun­day we watched a movie in the af­ter­noon, and oth­ers played cards in the liv­ing room. On Mon­day we had the Top­less Day (con­vert­ible cars). We drove around town.

We would like to thank the vol­un­teers who drove res­i­dents around town – Francine Dig­nard, Carolle Va­chon, Guy Le­compte and France Le­gault. We could not ask for bet­ter weather.

On Tues­day, Aug. 16, we had the euchre party.

The win­ners were Huguette Tit­ley, He­lena Cam­peau, Claire Pa­que­tte, Jean- Guy Car­rière, Margo MacRae and Mary Van Loon. The door prize went to Margo MacRae and the 50/5-55 went to Huguette Tit­ley, Lucy The­o­ret, He­lena Cam­peau and Ilma Le­gault. Our next card party is Aug. 30 at 1:30 p.m.

On Wednes­day we went to the casino in Ot­tawa, and for those who did not come they played sand­bags.

In the evening we went to the concert at the grotto. On Thurs­day we had the visit of Joey, a St. John Am­bu­lance therapy dog, who came to see the res­i­dents. Joey is a smart Ger­man Shep­herd; he is three years old, very calm and likes to be around peo­ple. In the af­ter­noon we did crafts with Sylvie. On Fri­day some res­i­dents went to play euchre in Dun­ve­gan, while some played bingo in the af­ter­noon. On Satur­day we played Ra­dio Bingo, and we did puz­zle assem­bly. On Sun­day af­ter­noon we watched a movie.

Trail run/walk

On Aug. 28 there will be a Run/Walk, start­ing at Bon­nie Glen Pavil­ion, 19596, County Road 43, Alexan­dria. Reg­is­tra­tion is at 8:15 a.m. and the Run/Walk will start at 9 a. m. All pro­ceeds will go to­wards Friends of Glen­garry Trails As­so­ci­a­tion and Ho­pi­tal Glen­garry Memo­rial Hospi­tal. For more info www.glen­gar­ry­trails.com


MCM Festival presents the

concert with Noël Camp­bell, Gre­gory Charles and two other vir­tu­osos Au­gust 26 at Église Sacré Coeur in Alexan­dria. Coun­try festival
