Concert at the Grotto
Another successful show was held last week with performances by Bruno Lauzon and Steven Warburton. This week’s concert, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight ( August 24) features Lee MacKinnon and Katie Ditschun ( Kate Smith), Teacher’s Highland Cream (1950s and ‘ 60s tunes.) It will be an awesome show. Don’t miss it! At the final concert, Country Night, August 31, there will be a pre-show performance by Bob Bériault at 6:30 p.m. André Cadieux and Area Code 613, a country and rock band, perform from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Tuesday, Aug. 9 we visited the St- Albert Cheese Factory and had lunch there. We visited the upstairs to see how the cheese and curds were made. On our way home we stopped at the Avonmore Berry Farm. We would like to thank Adrian for driving us.
On Wednesday we went to the concert, on Thursday we played Flower Pot game and in the evening we listened to Cedar Valley Choir. We would like to thank you all for the nice evening.
On Friday we played euchre at the Outreach Carefor. For those who did not come, they played sandbags and the winners were Iris K., Rose M. and Jeannine B.
At The Palace Mrs. D. Clarke was chosen to go to the beauty gala at Shoppers Drug Mart for free make-up, where there was also a barbecue and a bake sale.
On Sunday we watched a movie in the afternoon, and others played cards in the living room. On Monday we had the Topless Day (convertible cars). We drove around town.
We would like to thank the volunteers who drove residents around town – Francine Dignard, Carolle Vachon, Guy Lecompte and France Legault. We could not ask for better weather.
On Tuesday, Aug. 16, we had the euchre party.
The winners were Huguette Titley, Helena Campeau, Claire Paquette, Jean- Guy Carrière, Margo MacRae and Mary Van Loon. The door prize went to Margo MacRae and the 50/5-55 went to Huguette Titley, Lucy Theoret, Helena Campeau and Ilma Legault. Our next card party is Aug. 30 at 1:30 p.m.
On Wednesday we went to the casino in Ottawa, and for those who did not come they played sandbags.
In the evening we went to the concert at the grotto. On Thursday we had the visit of Joey, a St. John Ambulance therapy dog, who came to see the residents. Joey is a smart German Shepherd; he is three years old, very calm and likes to be around people. In the afternoon we did crafts with Sylvie. On Friday some residents went to play euchre in Dunvegan, while some played bingo in the afternoon. On Saturday we played Radio Bingo, and we did puzzle assembly. On Sunday afternoon we watched a movie.
On Aug. 28 there will be a Run/Walk, starting at Bonnie Glen Pavilion, 19596, County Road 43, Alexandria. Registration is at 8:15 a.m. and the Run/Walk will start at 9 a. m. All proceeds will go towards Friends of Glengarry Trails Association and Hopital Glengarry Memorial Hospital. For more info www.glengarrytrails.com
