Spate of break-ins

A 50-year-old North Glen­garry man faces 10 charges fol­low­ing a two break- ins in Stor­mont County.

Brent Tracey was ar­rested Au­gust 29 af­ter mem­bers of the Stor­mont- Dun­das- Glen­garry On­tario Provin­cial Po­lice de­tach­ment re­sponded to an in­progress break-in at a home on County Road 18 in St. An­drews West. Fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion re­vealed that Mr. Tracey is also al­legedly linked to a break-in re­ported Au­gust 27 at a res­i­dence on Strath­more Road in North Stor­mont in which cash, jew­ellery and an elec­tronic tablet were taken. Po­lice later re­cov­ered items re­lated to both breakins.

Mr. Tracey was charged with two counts each of break and en­ter, and posses­sion of break-in in­stru­ments; one count of posses­sion of prop­erty ob­tained by crime; two counts of fail­ing to com­ply with a re­cog­ni­zance; and four counts of fail­ing to com­ply with a pro­ba­tion order.

Break-ins

The Stor­mont, Dun­das and Glen­garry On­tario Provin­cial Po­lice de­tach­ment is in­ves­ti­gat­ing a se­ries of break-ins that have taken place across the county over the past sev­eral weeks.

Some­time be­tween July 24 and 30, sev­eral power tools and lawn trim­mers were taken from a res­i­dence on Parkhill Cir­cle in North Lan­caster.

In an­other in­ci­dent, elec­tronic de­vices and jew­ellery were stolen from a res­i­dence on Don­ald Street in Alexan­dria Au­gust 17.

Some­time be­tween Au­gust 7 and 17, a 2012 Heart­land Jasper Trail camp­ing trailer was stolen from a prop­erty on SDG Road 2 in South Glen­garry. An elec­tric bi­cy­cle and as­sorted tools were lifted from a res­i­den­tial garage at a prop­erty on Suther­land Av­enue in South Glen­garry some­time dur­ing the night of Au­gust 20/21.

Dur­ing the night of Au­gust 22/23, con­struc­tion equip­ment and two cross­bows were taken from a res­i­den­tial garage on County Road 23 in North Glen­garry.

Rac­ing Drugs

Po­lice charged a 28-year-old Toronto man with street rac­ing/stunt driv­ing Au­gust 14 af­ter he was clocked at a speed of 155 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on High­way 401 in South Glen­garry. An 18-year-old North Dun­das man was charged Au­gust 18 af­ter reg­is­ter­ing a speed of 138 km/h in a 80 km/ h zone in South Glen­garry. An 18-year-old man from South Glen­garry was charged Au­gust 24 af­ter he was caught trav­el­ling at a speed of 168 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone on County Road 34 in South Glen­garry.

Drink­ing and driv­ing

A 28-year-old Corn­wall man faces two im­paired driv­ing charges fol­low­ing an OPP traf­fic stop on John Street in Wil­liamstown Au­gust 7. Joshua James was to ap­pear in Corn­wall court at a later date.

Au­gust 5, the Corn­wall Com­mu­nity Po­lice Ser­vice charged a 28-year-old Alexan­dria man with im­paired driv­ing fol­low­ing a traf­fic stop at the Corn­wall Port of En­try. Daniel O’Brien was later re­leased and was sched­uled to ap­pear in court at a later date.

The OPP charged two men with mar­i­juana posses­sion fol­low­ing a traf­fic stop on Bound­ary Road in South Glen­garry on Au­gust 20.

Mubeen Mo­hammed, 23, of Mississaug­a, and Zahid Mo­ham­mad, 43, of Cam­bridge, were both sub­se­quently re­leased. They are sched­uled to ap­pear in Alexan­dria court on Oc­to­ber 12.

A 26-year-old North Glen­garry man was charged with mar­i­juana posses­sion, speed­ing and driv­ing while un­der sus­pen­sion, fol­low­ing a traf­fic stop on County Road 18 in South Stor­mont Au­gust 23. Ira Lavergne is to ap­pear in Corn­wall court (re­gard­ing the drug charge) Oc­to­ber 25.

Scott An­der­son, 46, of Corn­wall, was charged with mar­i­juana posses­sion fol­low­ing a traf­fic stop on Dun­can Street in Lan­caster on Au­gust 25. He is to ap­pear in Alexan­dria court Oc­to­ber 12.

Jonathan Hall, 28, of North Glen­garry was charged with posses­sion of a con­trolled sub­stance ( metham­phetamine) and two counts of fail­ing to com­ply with a pro­ba­tion order in Alexan­dria on Au­gust 31.

He was held in cus­tody pend­ing a bail ap­pear­ance in Corn­wall court.

Mul­ti­ple charges

Corn­wall po­lice charged a 33year-old Alexan­dria man with dis­tri­bu­tion of in­ti­mate im­ages, crim­i­nal ha­rass­ments, is­su­ing threats and breach of pro­ba­tion (fail­ing to keep the peace) fol­low­ing a se­ries of in­ci­dents in­volv­ing a 40-year-old woman and two other peo­ple. The sus­pect was ar­rested Au­gust 7 af­ter he al­legedly con­tacted the woman re­peat­edly, de­spite hav­ing been told by her not to do so. He also al­legedly sent in­ti­mate pho­tos of the woman to an­other per­son and threat­ened to kill a male ac­quain­tance of hers.

As­sault charges

An 18-year-old man was ar­rested July 24 fol­low­ing a fam­ily dis­pute at a res­i­dence on Dalkeith Road in North Glen­garry. The sus­pect – whose name is be­ing with­held in order to pro­tect the iden­ti­ties of the al­leged vic­tims – was charged with as­sault, ut­ter­ing threats, mis­chief un­der $5,000, theft un­der $5,000 and two counts of fail­ing to com­ply with a sen­tence.

A 26-year-old Corn­wall man was charged with three counts of spousal as­sault fol­low­ing a do­mes­tic in­ci­dent in­volv­ing his ex- spouse at a res­i­dence on County Road 27 in South Glen­garry on Au­gust 26. The sus­pect, whose name was with­held in order to pro­tect the iden­tity of the al­leged vic­tim, was also charged with crim­i­nal ha­rass­ment and fail­ing to com­ply with an un­der­tak­ing.

Im­paired

Corn­wall po­lice charged a 41year-old Wil­liamstown man with im­paired driv­ing fol­low­ing a traf­fic stop near First and Pitt Streets July 18.

Ben­jamin Pye was re­leased and is sched­uled to ap­pear in court at a later date.
