Fire damages home
No one was injured in a house fire on Greenfield Road near Baltics Corners last week, however, the home at 2217 County Road 30 sustained damages of about $20,000.
There was no one in the house at the time of the blaze, related North Glengarry Fire Chief Patrick Gauthier.
Firefighters were called to the scene at about 8: 30 a. m., Tuesday, Aug. 30. Members of all three North Glengarry fire stations fought the fire.
“It was extinguished right away,” said Alexandria fire station chief Bernard Lalonde, adding much of the damage was due to smoke.
The fire was contained to the basement of the residence that is in the process of being renovated. Mr. Gauthier added “the home is not completely damaged, but it will require some repairs and cleaning” before anyone can reside there. He said the fire is not being treated as suspicious and the cause is still undetermined.
