CLG Run set for Sept. 17

Staff In ad­di­tion to mak­ing a fi­nan­cial do­na­tion, North Glen­garry will pro­vide in-kind sup­port to Com­mu­nity Liv­ing Glen­garry’s 50th An­niver­sary Com­mu­nity Run Septem­ber 17.

As a cor­po­rate spon­sor, the town­ship will help with the setup for the run, in­stall bar­ri­cades and pro­vide vol­un­teers for the event, “Com­mu­nity RUNn­ingCourseC­om­mUNITÉ.”

Pub­lic works crews have erected ban­ners along County Road 34 to pro­mote the race.

It will also ar­range to tem­po­rar­ily close sec­tions of St. Ge­orge Street West, Main Street/ County Road 34, McDougall St. West, Macdon­ald Boule­vard, Ler­oux Street, In­dus­trial Boule­vard and Touchette Street. The town­ship ex­pects the des­ig­nated streets to be closed for about 30 or 40 min­utes dur­ing the event that be­gins at 9 a.m.

Both the 5-kilo­me­tre and onek­ilo­me­tre races start and fin­ish at the Tim Hor­tons Dome. The On­tario Provin­cial Po­lice will pro­vide traf­fic pa­trol as needed. The mu­nic­i­pal­ity will pro­duce and de­liver in­for­ma­tional leaflets to res­i­dents along the race route. The town­ship has do­nated $ 2,500 to CLG and
