Glens drop two at showcase
Despite a solid effort by rookie goaltender Nicholas Rousseau of North Lancaster, the Alexandria Glens junior ‘B’ hockey club dropped both of its matches at the CCHL2 showcase last weekend.
The 17-year-old Rousseau made 31 saves in a 4-2 loss to the Richmond Royals on Monday. Two days earlier he entered the game at the 23:01 mark, taking over for starting netminder Drew Carle, who allowed four goals on 15 shots, in what went into the books as a 5-1 loss to the Arnprior Packers. Rousseau stopped 20 of 21 the rest of the way and finished the weekend with 3.18 goals against average and a 0.911 save percentage.
Goal scorers on the weekend were Austin Ladouceur, Youssef Chadli, and Tanner Wilding.
This week, the Glens are booked to play Thursday in Casselman. Next Tuesday, the boys will skate on the road against the Ottawa Canadians, before Alexandria’s home opener on Sept. 16.
