No injuries were reported in a recent house fire on the 7th Concession near Glen Nevis.

South Glengarry acting fire chief Dave Robertson told that the blaze broke out around 2 p.m. on Sept. 4.

“No one was home at the time. It was fully engulfed upon our arrival, and it was a total loss,” he said.

Members from four of the township’s five fire halls – Lancaster, Martintown, North Lancaster and Williamstown – put out the fire within about an hour-and-a-half of arriving at the property, and remained on-site until early the following morning.

“We investigated (the scene) immediately after the fire was extinguished, but due to the amount of loss, we’re unable to determine the cause at this time,” added acting chief Robertson, who said the home was approximately 25 years old.
