Award winning Celtic act to play Maxville on Saturday
A Scottish folk group voted “Best Live Act 2013” and “Best Folk Band 2012” at the Scots Trad Music Awards will play at St. James Catholic Church in Maxville Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
The show is put on by the Ontario Festival of Small Halls, which is dedicated to bringing top-notch talent into smaller venues that dot the province’s eastern countryside.
“The musical celebration is taking place in intimate settings to build community, remind us why these spaces are an important part of rural landscape and even attract visitors to new regions, “says Rosanne Lake, a publicity representative with the festival.
As for Breabach, the group has spent the past five years touring the globe and has just released its fifth studio album,
Kelly Symes, festival coordinator, said that the Festival of Small Halls is bringing in music that speaks to the soul of rural Ontario.
“We hand-picked the artists this year, ensuring they have the energy and presence to fill a small hall to the rafters with incredible sound. They put on captivating live performances and are sure to win over crowds.” – Steven Warburton
