Library closures deserves ‘thanks’
The following was written shortly after the SDG Library Board’s decision to close branches in Dalkeith, St. Andrew’s and Morewood. - ed
Dear Editor: Just like Jimmy Fallon, Thank You Notes to write.
Thank you to Jamie and Frank for their efforts on our behalf, as well as Mayor McDonell.
We thank the Babylonians for inventing ‘ 0’; without it, our Chair would have seemed less grandiose.
Thank you to Evonne for introducing the motion that ultimately closed us, and to Victoria for not showing up thus ensuring our efforts failed. Nice.
Thank you to all Dalkeith patrons, for your continued support and all efforts in this ridiculous fight.
Thank you to our Library Board for showing us what autonomous power looks like.
Thank you Nolan for our newest diet fad… no DQ for St. Andrew’s, Dalkeith or Morewood, ever again!
Thank you to Staff and Marketing for all the help promoting our branch, and keeping us open! Oh, wait.
Thank you to County Council for handing over millions without holding anyone accountable.
Thank you to all Media for the coverage, but we would have appreciated more fact checking.
And many, many thanks to the Chair for misleading us for six months, for not including us in discussions, for teaching us new math, and for envisioning a future without us. You will NEVER be forgotten!
