Fitting in

The Glengarry News - - New Year's Resolution -

Jim Dennison expects a seasonal spike in business at his Body Break Fitness Centre in Alexandria.

Getting into shape is one of the most common New Year’s resolutions.

Plus, as people make travel plans and envisage themselves in swim wear, they pledge to start working off the extra kilograms they put on during party season.

“I see an increase of ten to 20 per cent in customers. I would say about five per cent of them stick with it,” says Mr. Dennison, who set up the gym on Anik Street five years ago.

His clientele runs the gamut. On a recent day, a man was leisurely pedalling a bike, while a woman was sprinting on a treadmill, another was doing resistance training and two women were stretching.

“There are some people who come here because they just want to stay mobile. You have the college students who have always been into fitness and an older mother who is trying to stay in shape,” observes Mr. Dennison.

HAPPY PLACE: Cheryl Baron loves the treadmill at the Body Break Fitness Centre in Alexandria.
