The real estate scene was sluggish at the end of the year, according to the Cornwall and District Real Estate Board. Home sales numbered 95 units in November, down 8.7 per cent from November 2015. On a year-to-date basis home sales totalled 1,400 units over the first 11 months of the year, 0.4 per cent ahead of the same period in 2015 and above levels from 2013 and 2014 as well.
The average price of homes sold in November 2016 was $206,566, jumping 24.3 per cent from the same month in 2015.
The less volatile year-to-date average sale price was $202,932, up 4.8 per cent from the first 11 months of 2015. New residential listings numbered 173 units in November 2016, edging up 2.4 per cent from a year earlier.
