Williamstown O.D.R. tournament to support two charities
A hockey tournament being organized for next month at the outdoor rink in Williamstown will raise funds for two charities, explains the event’s co-organizer.
Colton Gallant says the beneficiaries of the day will be the Julie MacLachlan Charitable Foundation and Project Silent Night.
The former supports individuals who are facing struggles in their life. Project Silent Night purchases chair beds for family caregivers at the Cornwall Community Hospital.
The hockey tournament will take place Saturday, Feb. 18, at Paul Rozon Memorial Park, beginning at 8 a.m.
Play will be a three-on-three format, with the aim to have 12 to 16 participate. Each group must have a goaltender, at least two female skaters, and a minimum of six skaters in total. Entry is $140 per team. Gallant, who is putting on this event along with Allister Macdonell, says there will be raffle prizes and live music as part of the day’s activities. They are also looking into bar service for those of age.
