Police investigate snowmobile, jewellery heists
The Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment is investigating the theft of a snowmobile from a shed on Marcoux Road in North Glengarry. The black 2004 SkiDoo MXZ model with pink features, was taken January 10.
Several vehicles parked at residences on Sapphire Drive, Randy Street and Wendy Street in South Glengarry were broken into on the night of January 16/17. Thieves took cash, gift cards, a GPS unit and sunglasses.
Police are investigating a break-in at a residence on Catherine Fraser Street in Alexandria where a large quantity of jewellery was taken on the night of January 14/15.
A 32-year-old Cornwall woman was charged with fraud over $5,000 and theft under $5,000 following an investigation into a string of reported thefts of earnings at a Lancaster business between August and October, 2016. Stephanie Lavigne is scheduled to appear in Alexandria court March 8.
Two men were charged with mischief after graffiti was spray-painted on a CNR overpass on Highway 401 in South Glengarry January 16. Jordan Kelly, 26, of Ottawa, and John Logan, 32, of Akwesasne, Ont. are scheduled to appear in Alexandria court February 8.
A 37-year-old North Glengarry man was charged with resisting a peace officer and failing to leave a premise when directed to do so following a disturbance involving the employees at a business on Main Street in Alexandria January 18. Patrick Beaudin is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court February 8.
A 20-year-old Cornwall man and a 19-year-old woman from South Glengarry were charged with marijuana possession following a traffic stop on the 401 in South Glengarry January 22. Brendan Crockett and Kimberly Evans are scheduled to appear in Alexandria court March 8.
A 20-year-old North Glengarry man was charged with two counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a recognizance following a disturbance at a residence on Concession Road 8 in North Glengarry January 13. The suspect’s name was withheld in order to protect the identity of the alleged victim. Meanwhile, Corey Helliker, 30, of North Glengarry, faces eight counts of failing to comply with a probation order and two counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a recognizance following a disturbance on Derby Street East, Alexandria the night of January 14/15. January 21, Kevin Waldroff, 20, of Cornwall, was charged with failing to comply with a recognizance following a traffic stop on Cannon Street in South Lancaster.
