Char-Lan’s novices skate to more suc­cess

The young­sters of the novice ‘B’ rep hockey team in Char-Lan re­cently scored a fifth tour­na­ment cham­pi­onship this sea­son, when the Rebels pre­vailed in Cob­den.

The Jan. 14 com­pe­ti­tion was capped off with a 6-1 tri­umph over the home team. In round-robin play, the Rebs blanked Petawawa 5-0 and clipped Ren­frew 4-3, en route to the ti­tle tilt.

Char-Lan’s league play is in the UCMHL, where the Rebels have a record of 13 wins, 2 ties, and just 1 loss. The team sits sec­ond in the standings,

trail­ing Corn­wall by two points, though Char-Lan has four games in hand.

Round­ing out the ta­ble on the east side are NGS (25 points) and South Stor­mont (2 points).

The west is led by Brockville and Kemptville, each with 23 points. North Dun­das sits with 12, while South Grenville has last spot (9 points).

Look­ing ahead, the Rebels are sched­uled to play tonight, Jan. 25 in Finch, where they will take on the NGS Braves at 6 p.m.
