Outstanding in their fields: Creating, outside the silo
Five silos in Prescott-Russell have been converted into works of art under the Popsilos program. A committee that included representatives from the tourism industry, agricultural community, the United Counties of Prescott-Russell and Popsilos co-producers Activar and A’shop, selected the winning designs for the 4,000-squarefoot murals.
Two are located in Prescott County.
A raven looms over Vankleek Hill Vineyard, 3725 County Road 12, located at the Barb Road exit on Highway 417, east of Vankleek Hill, in East Hawkesbury Township.
A young farmer graces the Ouimet Farms Adventure work at 63 Main St. West, across from the fairgrounds, in Vankleek Hill.
The mural at the Michel Dignard et Jeannette Mongeon Farm, 591 St- Guillaume St., Embrun, includes bulrushes.
The Ben-Rey-Mo Ltd. at 127 Principale St., in St-Albert, has multiple themes. Horses By Hannah at 8 Road 600 in Casselman has a big-time buzz. The circuit was made possible by a $150,000 federal government grant, to promote art and agrifood tourism and to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary.
