Greenfield men take first place in GSL
It came down to the final week of play, but the Greenfield men are getting hot at the right time. The Red Shirts capped of the summer GSL campaign with a 3-0 victory over Vankleek Hill, bumping them to second.
Glen Sandfield won its match last Friday 2-0 over McCrimmon, but it’s Team White that gets the third seed, with the Glens taking the fourth and final playoff seed.
The Drillers, despite a 4-2 victory last week over McCrimmon, saw their season come to an end. Cameron MacDonald opened the scoring for the Alexandria-based squad on a penalty kick, and then it was the David MacMaster show, as the teen went on to score the next three for his side.
Replying for the White Shirts were Connor MacLeod and Sheldon Lancaster.
Also last week, Vankleek Hill pounded Glen Sandfield 5-1, on goals from Gabrielle Duval (3), Dominick Myre, and Tristan Lavoie. Wyatt Bender had the lone tally in reply.
Greenfield and Glen Sandfield will collide in one semifinal series, with matches booked for Aug. 9 in Dunvegan, Aug. 11 at Lochiel, and Aug. 18 in Dunvegan, if needed.
The other semi features McCrimmon and Vankleek Hill, with games booked for the same dates, starting in Lochiel, and then with two, if necessary, at the VCI field.
