Green­field men take first place in GSL

It came down to the fi­nal week of play, but the Green­field men are get­ting hot at the right time. The Red Shirts capped of the sum­mer GSL cam­paign with a 3-0 vic­tory over Van­kleek Hill, bump­ing them to se­cond.

Glen Sand­field won its match last Fri­day 2-0 over McCrim­mon, but it’s Team White that gets the third seed, with the Glens tak­ing the fourth and fi­nal play­off seed.

The Drillers, de­spite a 4-2 vic­tory last week over McCrim­mon, saw their sea­son come to an end. Cameron MacDon­ald opened the scor­ing for the Alexan­dria-based squad on a penalty kick, and then it was the David MacMaster show, as the teen went on to score the next three for his side.

Re­ply­ing for the White Shirts were Con­nor Ma­cLeod and Shel­don Lan­caster.

Also last week, Van­kleek Hill pounded Glen Sand­field 5-1, on goals from Gabrielle Du­val (3), Do­minick Myre, and Tris­tan Lavoie. Wy­att Ben­der had the lone tally in re­ply.

Play­off matchups

Green­field and Glen Sand­field will col­lide in one semi­fi­nal se­ries, with matches booked for Aug. 9 in Dun­ve­gan, Aug. 11 at Lochiel, and Aug. 18 in Dun­ve­gan, if needed.

The other semi fea­tures McCrim­mon and Van­kleek Hill, with games booked for the same dates, start­ing in Lochiel, and then with two, if nec­es­sary, at the VCI field.
