Good news for job hunters
Job seekers rejoice. The Glengarry Inter Agency Group is holding a job fair on Aug. 17 from 1-6 p.m.
The group’s Marketing Coordinator, Brad Wilson, says that at least seven local employers will be attending. They include Beau’s Natural Brewery, Altech, Hunt Synergie, Chartwell Retirement Residences, ParaMed Home Healthcare, Drake International, and Olymel. The fair takes place at the GIAG office at 3525 County Road 34 at the south end of Alexandria.
Last Thursday, the group’s mobile office was in South Lancaster so it could promote the job fair and let people know about other services it offers. Marilie Jeaurond, an employment coach with the group, says that GIAG is also working with the Eastern Ontario Training Board to offer two courses – an office assistant course and general labourer course – out of St. Lawrence College in Cornwall. These free courses, which run from Aug. 28 until Oct. 20, include paid tuition and a paid job opportunity.
