Good news for job hunters

Job seek­ers re­joice. The Glen­garry In­ter Agency Group is hold­ing a job fair on Aug. 17 from 1-6 p.m.

The group’s Mar­ket­ing Co­or­di­na­tor, Brad Wil­son, says that at least seven lo­cal em­ploy­ers will be at­tend­ing. They in­clude Beau’s Nat­u­ral Brew­ery, Al­tech, Hunt Syn­ergie, Chartwell Re­tire­ment Res­i­dences, ParaMed Home Health­care, Drake In­ter­na­tional, and Oly­mel. The fair takes place at the GIAG of­fice at 3525 County Road 34 at the south end of Alexan­dria.

Last Thurs­day, the group’s mo­bile of­fice was in South Lan­cas­ter so it could pro­mote the job fair and let peo­ple know about other ser­vices it of­fers. Mar­ilie Jeau­rond, an em­ploy­ment coach with the group, says that GIAG is also work­ing with the East­ern On­tario Train­ing Board to of­fer two cour­ses – an of­fice as­sis­tant course and gen­eral labourer course – out of St. Lawrence Col­lege in Corn­wall. Th­ese free cour­ses, which run from Aug. 28 un­til Oct. 20, in­clude paid tu­ition and a paid job op­por­tu­nity.
