August 16, Chartwell Lancaster resident Margaret Gandey celebrated her 103rd birthday with family, friends and staff of the retirement home. Born in 1914 in Montreal, where she worked for the Post Office, she married her husband, Alan, and had four children. They moved to South Lancaster in 1987. “Since moving into Chartwell Lancaster, Margaret keeps everyone smiling,” says Laura Willett, Programs and Support Services Manager. “For a lady of 103, she is filled with so much joy and happiness that she can easily make anyone’s day.” Mrs. Gandey enjoys spending her days with people and listening to music. When asked what she wanted for her birthday, Margaret was quick to answer: “Pizza and cake.”
