Char-Lan boys take silver at EOSSAA hockey
Last week in Arnprior, the SD&G champion boys hockey team from Char-Lan DHS skated at EOSSAA, where the Crusaders ran out of gas in their third game of the day, blanked by St. Joseph’s (Renfrew) 5-0 to finish as silver medallists.
Char-Lan’s day opened with a 3-3 tie against Kingston’s La Salle SS. Crusaders scoring were Andrew Dixon, Donovan Francis, and Landon Fraser “with a beauty from his knees,” as coach Sean O’Farrell describes it.
The team’s second round-robin effort was a hard-fought 3-2 win over Embrun, on goals from Xandre Seguin, Dixon, and Lachlan McDonell.

The top three teams in the division were tightly-packed in the standings at the end of regularseason play, with Green at 27 points, followed by Orange at 24 and Red just behind with 23. Grey rounded out the table, with 12 points.
Green was far-and-away tops in goal differential, at +21. Orange was the only other team on the plus side, at +1.
In playoff semifinals on Feb. 27, Orange doubled off Red 4-2, while Green topped Grey 8-5.
