South Glengarry recently received a $13,000 federal grant to help offset the combined cost of an enabling accessibility project for three of its municipal facilities.

The funds, granted through the Ministry of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), will cover the majority of the $19,000 required to install new automatic push pad doors at the Green Valley, Lancaster and Martintown community centres. “It’s another small part of moving towards the (uppertier government mandated) accessibility standards,” explains Ewen MacDonald, the township’s general manager of infrastructure services.
