Spring Pitch-In event in North Glengarry
Pitch in, people. North Glengarry Township is encouraging residents to help clean up their part of the municipality during Pitch-In Canada Week, April 22 to 27.
Citizens are being asked to clean up ditches, parks and curbs by picking up litter. PitchIn bags are available at the RARE recycling centre and the township office in Alexandria and the Maxville Sports Complex. Once your Pitch- In bags are full, leave them on the curbside and the township will pick them up. The bags are meant for roadside litter, not household garbage.
While you’re at it, recycle your e-waste.
Drop off your unwanted electronics at RARE, 265 Industrial Blvd., at no cost.
Keep in mind that appliances such as toasters, microwaves, vacuums, air conditioners, coffee makers, electric toys, water coolers are not electronics. Go to northglengarry.ca/en/communityinformation/specialwaste.asp for more information on ewaste.
Leaves and yard waste
Hill, Lochiel, Dunvegan and Dalkeith are reminded to put your leaves and yard waste out May 6 for pick-up May 7.
Put leaves in compostable paper bags or in open containers. The weight limit is 20 kilograms per container.
Separate branches from the paper bags or containers because they will be picked up separately.
Branches should be bundled up or tied together and be no more than four feet long.
Leaf and yard waste will not be picked up in small hamlets or on rural roads and county
If you are the do- it- yourself type, you can drop off leaves and branches at the Glen Robertson landfill site, 3485 Dalhousie St.-County Rd 23.
Do not use plastic bags, which reduce the life span of the landfill.
