Spring Pitch-In event in North Glen­garry

Pitch in, peo­ple. North Glen­garry Town­ship is en­cour­ag­ing res­i­dents to help clean up their part of the mu­nic­i­pal­ity dur­ing Pitch-In Canada Week, April 22 to 27.

Cit­i­zens are be­ing asked to clean up ditches, parks and curbs by pick­ing up lit­ter. PitchIn bags are avail­able at the RARE re­cy­cling cen­tre and the town­ship of­fice in Alexan­dria and the Maxville Sports Com­plex. Once your Pitch- In bags are full, leave them on the curb­side and the town­ship will pick them up. The bags are meant for road­side lit­ter, not house­hold garbage.

While you’re at it, re­cy­cle your e-waste.

Drop off your un­wanted elec­tron­ics at RARE, 265 In­dus­trial Blvd., at no cost.

Leaves and yard waste

Hill, Lochiel, Dun­ve­gan and Dalkeith are re­minded to put your leaves and yard waste out May 6 for pick-up May 7.

Put leaves in com­postable pa­per bags or in open con­tain­ers. The weight limit is 20 kilo­grams per con­tainer.

Sep­a­rate branches from the pa­per bags or con­tain­ers be­cause they will be picked up sep­a­rately.

Branches should be bun­dled up or tied to­gether and be no more than four feet long.

Leaf and yard waste will not be picked up in small ham­lets or on ru­ral roads and county

roads.

If you are the do- it- your­self type, you can drop off leaves and branches at the Glen Robert­son land­fill site, 3485 Dal­housie St.-County Rd 23.

Do not use plas­tic bags, which re­duce the life span of the land­fill.
