Dun­ve­gan opens with win

Du­ven­gan’s se­nior women’s soc­cer team drew first blood in the GSL best-of-three championsh­ip se­ries last week, shut­ting out Alexan­dria 2-0, on a pair of goals scored by Michelle DeRe­pentigny.

The sec­ond match was slated to hit the dome turf last night (March 27), with a third, if needed, booked for Thurs­day, March 29, kick­ing off at 7:30 p.m.

Alexan­dria was the reg­u­larsea­son winner, top­ping the stand­ings ahead of Dun­ve­gan by three points.

Semi­fi­nal knock­out play matches were held March 28.

Dun­ve­gan edged Glen Ne­vis 3-2, with goals for the win­ning side notched by Emily Mc­Don­ald, M. DeRe­pentigny, and Alex De­mers, while Kyla Bur­wash and Josee Ha­gen had the replies.

Alexan­dria won its match hand­ily, dis­patch­ing Van­kleek Hill 6-2. Scor­ing for the win­ning side were Brae­lyn MacMaster (3), Liz McCormick ( 2), and Quinn MacKin­non. VKH got mark­ers from Christin Senn and Cather­ine Glaude. –
