Bainsville bridge work be­gins

Staff Re­place­ment of the Bainsville (Third) Line Road bridge over High­way 401 is now un­der­way.

Work on the 54-year-old struc­ture be­gan March 26.

As a re­sult, Third Line Road at the 401 will be closed to all traf­fic as of to­day (April 4), and is sched­uled to re­main closed un­til Novem­ber 30.

Dur­ing this time, mo­torists are asked to follow the signed de­tour routes via County Road 2 and South Ser­vice Road.

Full night-time clo­sures of the 401 – both east­bound and west­bound – as well as County Road 2 will be in ef­fect dur­ing de­mo­li­tion of the ex­ist­ing bridge.

Dur­ing overnight de­mo­li­tion, there will be a full clo­sure of County Road 2 at Third Line Road from 8 p.m. on April 19 to 8 a.m. on April 20, with traf­fic be­ing de­toured onto lo­cal roads.

There will also be full lane clo­sures of the west­bound 401 at County Road 23 (Curry Hill), from 8 p.m. on April 20 to 8 a.m. on April 21, as well as the east­bound 401, at County Road 34 (Lan­caster) from 8 p.m. on April 21 to 8 a.m. on April 22.

Driv­ers – in both in­stances – are asked to follow the signed de­tour routes via County Road 2.

In the event of in­clement weather, all full clo­sures will be post­poned seven days, in­stead tak­ing place be­tween April 26 and April 29 in the same afore­men­tioned se­quences and at iden­ti­cal times.

Through­out con­struc­tion, sin­gle-lane clo­sures on the 401 – both east and west – as well as on County Road 2, will also take place.
