The Alexandria midget house Glens hockey team is the 2018 playoff champion of the Lower St. Lawrence Minor Hockey League.

After completing the regular season atop the eight-team standings, with just one loss in 24 games played, the Glens went on to skate unbeaten through the playoff round- robin, with a record of 3 wins and 1 tie.

The ensuing ‘A’ pool championship series featured Alexandria against the South Stormont Selects, in four hard-fought contests, where the Glens demonstrated why they were so strong during the regular season.

After a 3-3 tie in game one, the Glens blew out the Selects 9-4 in the second match. The boys followed that up with an exciting 4-4 draw.

Alexandria needed just a point (a tie) in the finale to secure the championship, and that’s what the Glens got, as the contest ended 5-5, with the boys battling through 10 penalties.

FORWARD: Chace Mader, of the Rebels, pushes between a pair of Kemptville players, as he moves into the offensive zone, trailed by teammate Landon Lauzon.

TURF WARS: Goalkeeper Caroline DeRepentigny, playing for Dunvegan, eyes an incoming ball, as teammate Kelsey MacIntosh jostles with Alexandria’s Amanda Myre.
