Tribute to Humboldt
Area residents have joined the nation in expressing support for the victims of the horrific bus accident that claimed the lives of 15 members of the Humboldt, Saskatchewan junior hockey team Friday.
Fund-raising drives are being organized to provide donations to a GoFundMe campaign to help those affected by the bus-truck crash that also left 14 others injured.
Officials with the Humboldt Broncos said that the $3.2 million raised to date will assist the vic- tims and survivors’ families.
Tomorrow (April 12), schools across Eastern Ontario will demonstrate their support as students and staff will wear their favourite jersey “to show Humboldt we are thinking of them.”
Upper Canada District School Board and Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario schools will be taking part in the tribute.
Many schools are also collecting donations on that day which will be given to the GoFundMe drive.
