Trib­ute to Hum­boldt

Area res­i­dents have joined the na­tion in ex­press­ing sup­port for the vic­tims of the hor­rific bus ac­ci­dent that claimed the lives of 15 mem­bers of the Hum­boldt, Saskatchew­an ju­nior hockey team Fri­day.

Fund-rais­ing drives are be­ing or­ga­nized to pro­vide do­na­tions to a GoFundMe cam­paign to help those af­fected by the bus-truck crash that also left 14 oth­ers in­jured.

Of­fi­cials with the Hum­boldt Bron­cos said that the $3.2 mil­lion raised to date will as­sist the vic- tims and sur­vivors’ fam­i­lies.

To­mor­row (April 12), schools across East­ern On­tario will demon­strate their sup­port as stu­dents and staff will wear their favourite jer­sey “to show Hum­boldt we are think­ing of them.”

Up­per Canada Dis­trict School Board and Catholic Dis­trict School Board of East­ern On­tario schools will be tak­ing part in the trib­ute.

Many schools are also col­lect­ing do­na­tions on that day which will be given to the GoFundMe drive.
